It has been too long since I have posted on my blog. I have been rather rushed these days, but I am back into it and might even get a couple of tutorials posted soon.
I have been thinking about doing a modern Jane Austen quilt for a while. I have been totally inspired by Amanda Herring‘s Ardently Austen fabric line with Riley Blake. Amanda showed us a couple of glimpses of a quilt she made for her Bonnet Bash, and it got my creative juices running big time. I decided to order the fat quarter bundle which arrived a few weeks ago. This afternoon the design work has started, I have even put a few test piece together
These test pieces aren’t in the colours I will use, but I wanted to turn these test pieces into a pillow if they turned out ok. The cottage is a paper piecing design I did myself, but the Union Jack is by Tracey Jay and you can find the pattern on Craftsy for free. The quilt will also have teacups, tea pots and some hearts. That side of the design I am still working on, so watch this space.
At the moment the quilt is going to be 52″ x 72, I think I am going to have to order some more fabric, if only they sold it in New Zealand, this ordering from overseas and waiting on it to be delivered really does kill the creative juices, but I have some to get on with ……
